Grammar and culture tips
Having a pet
It works the same way as with family: Hin man rikono. – I have a dog. Nane man mačka. – I don’t have a cat.
Diminutives
The suffix -oro/-ori makes words smaller and more affectionate: čiriklo → čirikloro (little bird), čhaj → čhajori (little girl).
Andro and andre
Andro (in, into) is used before masculine nouns: andro veš – in the forest. Before feminine nouns it is andre: andre škola – at school.
I see you
When the object of a sentence is a person or an animal, it changes its form: Dikhav la čha. – I see the girl. With things the form stays the same: Dikhav o kher. – I see the house.
